Building the Good in Business

A lot is happening around the Mendoza building! Ron Grisoli will write a column for the May 12 Mendoza Exchange with more details about the construction activities scheduled for this summer. Here are few updates for this week and next:

  • The Marketing & Brand Strategy team is now moved to the team’s new offices in Mendoza 132.
  • Preparation has begun for the construction of the Trading Room in Mendoza 123.
  • Restrooms on the lower level and second floor will be closed this summer with demolition starting on May 19.
  • Work on Mendoza’s roof will start May 12 with the removal of the rocks on the flat-roof areas. The work will pause for the commencement weekend. It’s likely to be noisy!
  • Renovations to Mendoza classrooms begin May 12. Phase 1 includes rooms 160 and 161. New tables, lighting and carpeting will be installed, and the rooms will be repainted.

Concrete Saw Cutting in Mendoza’s Basement

Beginning May 19, preparations will start to cut six new door openings through the existing concrete foundation walls in the lower level of Mendoza. These openings will connect the current basement to the basement of the North Addition. This work is scheduled to continue through June 30.

Each opening requires several days of preparation followed by a full day of concrete saw cutting. Please be advised that this process will generate significant noise, which may be heard throughout the building. The greatest impact will be on the north end of the basement.

To reduce disruption, classrooms in the basement and on the first floor of the north side of the building will be closed from June 5 to June 30. The affected classrooms include: L003, L014, L050, L051, 121 and 122.

Additional updates will be provided regarding any office spaces that may be affected during this work.
