Marketing's Yixing Chen’s dissertation was selected as the winner of the AMA's prestigious 2021 John A. Howard/AMA Doctoral Dissertation Award, which is one of the top honors recognizing a junior faculty member’s dissertation. Yixing's dissertation, "Linking Marketing to Social and Economic Outcomes: The Case of Cancer Prevention and K-12 Education," examines the effect of a personalized outreach program on liver cancer screening rates. He found that the program simultaneously improved screening rates by up to 24 percentage points and return on outreach program by up to 96%.
Additional note: Yixing is the fourth Notre Dame-affiliated professor to win the award. Previous recipients include Shankar Ganesan, Joe Urbany and Bill Wilkie.
