Finance's Bill McDonald and Timothy Loughran examined all 10-K filings from 2018, before the current pandemic, and found that less than 21 percent of the filings contain any pandemic-related terms.

Notre Dame Magazine included Mendoza faculty in several recent stories: Accountancy's Ed Hums ’75 and his wife, Shirley (’97 MNA) in a story about the faculty-in-residence program; and a story about ITAO's Kaitlin Wowak and her research which found that companies with female directors are more likely to quickly recall dangerous products. Kaitlin's research was also covered in an article by The Wall Street Journal.

An excerpt from a paper by Finance's Tim Loughran and Bill McDonald was used in a Bloomberg opinion column about the risk of securities fraud for public companies during a national disaster such as COVID-19.


Nevada's professional gamblers have effectively lost access to their offices with the closure of casinos, which means they could qualify for unemployment according to Finance's Jason Reed in articles by several media outlets including Market Watch and Fox News. Jason's comments about the effect over 22 million unemployed Americans will have on the economy also appeared in the UK's Guardian and Irish Times.
