Finance Professor Paul Gao received first place in the prestigious Journal of Financial Economics-sponsored Jensen Prizes for Corporate Finance and Organizations. Gao and his co-authors were recognized for their paper, “What’s in a (School) Name? Racial Discrimination in Higher Education Bond Markets,” which examined Historically Black Universities and Colleges (HBCUs) and racial discrimination in the bond market.

Assistant Marketing Professor Emily Garbinsky received the C.W. Park Award for Best Paper by an Early Career Contributor. Her paper, “The Consumption Consequences of Couples Pooling Finances,” published in the July 2019 issue of the Journal of Consumer Psychology, showed how couples buy different products depending on whether they use joint or separate bank accounts.
