Urgent Help Needed - Student Housing

The University is closing the dorms and the 253 students who had been granted permission to stay there must now vacate campus ASAP.

Student Affairs is working to repatriate those who live abroad and can return home; for others, they are seeking other solutions. If you are ND faculty or staff and would be willing to host a student in your home, please contact Margaret Meserve.

Building Access

We continue to strongly urge faculty, staff and students to avoid coming to campus as a precautionary measure due to the coronavirus pandemic. If you do plan to visit the Mendoza and Stayer buildings, please note that in keeping with the University's requirements, exterior doors to both Mendoza and Stayer will be unlocked during "business" hours until at least April 13. A few details to note:

  • For Mendoza, the hours are 6 a.m.-6 p.m., Monday-Friday.
  • For Stayer, the hours are 7 a.m.-5 p.m., Monday-Friday. For faculty and staff, access to Stayer also requires the PIN associated with your ND identity card. If you don't remember your PIN, you can look it up at here.
  • Graduate students can access the Mendoza building after hours by using their ND ID card. (Note: They do not have card access to Stayer.)
  • The buildings will remain locked with card access only on weekends.

Please also note that there will be NO access to the Mahaffey Business Library after Sunday, March 15. If you need help with questions related to library services, please email askbuslib@nd.edu. Librarians Pete and Andy will be monitoring the queue frequently.
