Mendoza IT Going Remote

Since Gov. Holcomb’s Stay-at-Home Order on March 25, Mendoza IT has had minimal staff on campus to ensure that urgent support needs in offices or classrooms could be met during the transition to online teaching and remote working. In order to protect the health and safety of our staff and customers, Mendoza IT will now be available for in-person assistance only in cases of extraordinary need until further notice.

Assistance is still available by phone or email. Contact Mendoza IT by email, phone at 574-631-7896, after-hours phone for a synchronous class emergency at 574-276-4890, or for other tech emergencies call 574-334-7896.

Classrooms Closed

Starting today all classrooms in Stayer and Mendoza will be closed and locked. This move comes in collaboration with Building Services to ensure the buildings are disinfected and to ensure the health and safety of our faculty, students and staff.

For those faculty currently using Stayer team rooms to teach their classes, the rooms will remain open.

For access to a classroom please contact Doug Franson or Chris Fruehwirth.

MCOB IT: Online Teaching Resources

Whether you plan to use a university computer or a personal computer, here are some essential resources to keep you moving forward.

March 27, 2020

Faculty Task Force Update
  • The University revamped its Instructional Continuity website to aggregate strategies, tools, tips and resources, avenues for help, and a mechanism for faculty to share ideas and resources with others. The site offers access to workshops, an online teaching checklist, updates on exam policies and many other resources.
  • Faculty interested in the assessment platform Gradescope for large lecture classes are able to access the tool for free at present. The Task Force has a working group to walk you through the process.
  • Are you encountering a particular “pedagogical puzzle” or problem you could use help solving? Report it to Kristen Collett-Schmitt or Jim Leady to share with the Task Force.
