The Mendoza Behavioral Lab implemented "Studies in Mass" last month. Four studies were linked and conducted in a one-hour lab session, which drew 200 Notre Dame juniors and seniors from all colleges and schools at the University. Studies by Marketing's Emily Garbinsky and M&O's Tim Hubbard, Danielle Tussing and Brittany Solomon were part of the session. Many thanks to Emily for the idea and the Office of Undergraduate Studies, Communication's Zara Osterman and faculty for their support.

ITAO's John Lalor was awarded a $10,000 grant by Notre Dame Research to support his study, “Towards Automatic Generation of Electronic Health Record Note Comprehension Questions.” The research builds on his previous work in measuring patients’ ability to understand Electronic Health Record (EHR) notes. John and his co-authors built a general test called ComprehENotes to assess EHR note comprehension. With this grant, the goal is to build a natural language processing system for automatically generating personalized questions based on EHR notes. These questions can be used to (a) assess medical students and doctors as they study for board exams with questions from actual EHR notes, and (b) assess a patient's comprehension of their own medical record with personalized questions.
